|Client:||Alford Manor House Museum|
Alford Manor House is a small museum which houses an amazing collection of objects relating to the rural local community and Alfords agricultural heritage. Susan is delighted to have won a prestigious and significant commission for the newly redesigned garden.
Her inspiration came from the museums collection, specifically the collection of locally made corn dollys. The very traditional and familiar form of a corn dolly was reinterpreted in stainless steel, to create a contemporary large scale sculptural feature which will be a permanent garden feature.
This project is part of Museumaker, a prestigious national project involving 16 museums across the country. Creating inspiring new commissions by outstanding contemporary makers. The vision of the project was to ‘unlock the creative potential of museum collections’. It worked to achieve long-term sustainable change in the way the historical is brought to life by the contemporary.
